Give feedback and report bugs

Rate a session locally or prepare a public bug report with a small, reviewable environment summary.

Use feedback when the result was good or bad, and a bug report when afk itself behaved incorrectly. Session ratings stay in local outcome records; bug reports go to the public project issue tracker only when you submit or confirm them.

Rate the current session

After a model has replied and the session has an ID, run:

/good The targeted tests passed and the change solved the problem.
/bad The agent changed unrelated files and did not run the tests.

The note is optional. /good records the session as succeeded, and /bad records it as failed. These are explicit session-outcome votes, not labels on a single sentence or a request to continue working. Before a session ID is assigned, afk asks you to wait for the first reply rather than guessing which session you meant.

Telegram commands and thumbs

Telegram supports /good and /bad for that chat's active session. You can also add a 👍 or 👎 reaction to a mapped bot reply. A new thumbs-up records success; a new thumbs-down records failure. Removing an emoji does not retract a vote, and an unchanged reaction adds no new vote.

Reaction lookup is kept in a bounded in-memory map of recent bot replies. After a bot restart or eviction of an old message, its reaction may no longer map to a session. Use the commands for the current chat session when a reaction cannot be associated. Group reaction delivery also depends on the bot's Telegram privileges.

Prepare a bug report

Run /bug with a short description of the failure:

/bug The REPL stopped repainting after resizing the terminal.

Open the printed, prefilled GitHub link. The command itself does not post an issue. Review the text and the GitHub account you are signed in as.

Add the smallest reproduction, expected behavior, actual behavior, and any safe error excerpt. Submit the form only when the contents are appropriate for a public issue.

The report includes afk version, Node version, OS, current model, and session ID when available. It does not automatically attach your working directory, transcript, tool output, or trace contents. Long descriptions can be shortened to fit the URL limit; the command warns when this happens.

Reports are public. A prefilled URL can also enter browser history before you submit. The description passes through best-effort secret redaction, but you must still remove credentials, personal data, private source, and confidential logs yourself.

File directly with GitHub CLI

In the interactive REPL, use a leading --file flag and a description:

/bug --file The REPL stopped repainting after resizing the terminal.

This needs gh installed and authenticated to GitHub. afk shows a confirmation with the target repository, posting account, title, labels, and a bounded body preview. Press Enter to file or Esc to cancel. Nothing is filed before confirmation. A bug label is requested only when your account has sufficient repository permissions.

Without an interactive confirmation surface, or if GitHub CLI is missing, unauthenticated, or fails to create the issue, afk falls back to the prefilled link. /bug --file without a description asks you to supply one.

Where the feedback goes

Ratings are persisted in the session's verified outcome record under ~/.afk/agent-framework/outcomes/<sessionId>.json by default. They include an explicit_feedback vote, timestamp, and your note (or operator when no note was supplied). Telegram reaction evidence is recorded as thumbs_reaction. The strong explicit vote settles the outcome rather than relying only on inferred completion signals.

Those local ratings are not automatically published as GitHub issues. /bug targets the public griffinwork40/agent-afk repository; ordinary /bug opens the submission path through a URL, while confirmed /bug --file uses your GitHub CLI account.

When a report needs more evidence, inspect a trace or transcript locally first and select only the relevant safe excerpt. A session ID identifies the run but does not upload its artifacts for you.
